To try and shape my project and produce something with the best possible outcome, I need to try and grab influence from from my research.

  • Why do we drink water?

‘According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31%.'(Howard Perlman, 2016).

This video is an example of an animation that is informative and interesting. The voice over along wit the music adds character. Although it isn’t the best animation, it certain has a range of aspects that keeps the viewer watching. This in a way is story telling whilst giving information.

Harmful effects of dehydration.

  • Tiredness
  • Migraine
  • Constipation
  • Muscle cramps
  • Irregular blood pressure
  • Kidney problems
  • Dry skin
  • 20% dehydrated – Risk of death

I could perhaps mention a few of these in my video.

  • Fatigue: Water is a source of energy and gives you a boost in energy

I could emphasise that buying Thirsty Planet water can give energy. Make that a selling point.

  • Why should consumers listen to what we have to say?

Well we have to give a good reason or cause. Thirsty Planet already have that.  They donate money in order for people who don’t have access to clean drinking water to finally have access.

How can we help to make them listen? Can I do something in my video that will encourage this?

Presentations with words and images are 50% more effect when the words are communicated verbally than just visually.

The Dual Channel Hypothesis

We all have two channels, our eyes and ears. When too much information goes through one channel, we can have information overload. If the unused channel finally gets used, then we are more likely to comprehend and take in more information. So when we use voice over, the viewer is then able to take in images with their visual channel and the words or figures on screen, they can use their audio channel instead providing they have voice over.

I had thought about voice over but after knowing this, this has influenced my decision in using a voice over. I feel that this could really benefit the video and allow for our voice to be heard.

‘Animated video is a rich, engaging medium, that is cost-effective, easy to manage, and will help your key points pop.’ (SUBRAMANYAN V, 2016).

So with this added information, I know that I will be creating an animation with a voice over. I feel that this is a great way to get through to the target audience.
